Triveni Engineering & Industries Limited has informed the Exchange that the BODs of the Company have at their meeting held on October 24, 2005 reviewed the Khushali / Agri Business which was non-core part of the sugar business of the Company at Deoband and Khatauli, Uttar Pradesh. This business being a minuscule part of the entir sugar business of those units, the Board decided to transfer the Khushali / Agri Business to its 100% wholly owned subsidiary company, Triveni SRI Limited for better management and efficiency. The Company has further informed that their 23MW bagasse based cogeneration plant at Khatuali has been synchronized with the grid and has started external sale of power to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. With reference to the news item appearing in a leading news channel regarding the Company may demerge Sugar & Engineering Divisions, the company has clarified that no proposal to that effect is under consideration as of now. The Company is however exploring the possibility to form strategic alliance with some foreign partners for expanding the Company's technical capabilities for the manufacture of steam turbines above 18 MW and upto 50 MW.
